What About Academics

Emphasis in the three and four year old program is placed on social interaction. This is accomplished through purposeful free play. The program includes a variety of physical activities to develop large and small muscles, stories, songs, and finger plays to develop language skills. Children are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities during each day. Self-help skills are emphasized. Another emphasis is readiness. Specific activities are planned to develop readiness skills. These skills include cooperation, listening skills, following directions, and completing simple tasks, together with all basic preschool concepts. This is accomplished through teacher-directed activities and child-initiated activities. Reinforcement at home of all program goals is encouraged.
